At the Comprehensive Spine Center of Dallas, we have a multi-specialty team, we have a pain management doctor, Dr. Bidgoli. He’s a PMNR with a special emphasis in spinal injection procedures and pain management. I’m Dr. Scott Farley and I am a fellowship trained spinal surgeon. We also have an interventional radiologist and neuroradiologist, Dr. George Farley, MD.
What to expect when you come to a practice such as Comprehensive Spine Center of Dallas. For pain, for medication, for possible surgery, for discussion of back pain and neck pain. What you should expect is to come into an office, fill out paperwork about why you’re being seen. When you’re being seen by the providers, there’s nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and doctors that should be able to answer your questions and explain your diagnosis. At our practice, if at all available, which most times it is, we’d be looking at your actual MRI with you in the room. We have computers and monitors that can show you what is wrong with your spine. We can show you the disc herniations and tightness around your spine and then you can ask questions about your diagnosis. We’ll go through all the treatment options including therapy, chiropractic treatment, traction, weight loss, use of medications, massage and then if more modalities or treatments are required such as interventional pain injections, we will discuss those procedures in detail. You should be able to discuss those procedures with your provider. It’s important to understand what your diagnosis is and what the risk of injections are. What you would want to stay away from is being called by essential scheduling to say, the doctor has called and told me to call you in regards to an abnormality in your MRI. Please show up so that we can perform an injection. That does not make sense for your body. It does not make sense for what the medical provider should be providing to you as far as information and discussions of the benefits and possible risks of procedures and surgery.
My main message on this would be. You need to have a conversation and be able to discuss your treatment and diagnosis and visualize on a model and a monitor of your pictures from your MRI and X-Rays about why you’re having to have specific treatments and procedures performed.
